(KQTV) &#8212; A St. Joseph, Missouri, man is behind bars after he was shot in the groin for allegedly attempting to burglarize a home early Sunday morning. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courts.mo.gov\/fv\/c\/PROBABLE%20CAUSE%20STATEMENT.PDF?courtCode=05&amp;di=4645472\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.courts.mo.gov\/fv\/c\/PROBABLE%20CAUSE%20STATEMENT.PDF?courtCode=05&amp;di=4645472\">probable cause statement<\/a>, Thomas D. Davis, 44, unlawfully entered a home around 2:49 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20 along the 3300 block of Scott St. in northwest Buchanan County. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While inside the residence, Davis allegedly stole items from the counter. As he was exiting, he was confronted by the homeowner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the exchange, the victim believed Davis was armed with a firearm and had fired one round himself, striking Davis in the groin. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Davis fled the home and was later located in a nearby alley. He was transported to Mosaic for medical treatment and was released into police custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The victim identified Davis as the person who entered his residence. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Davis told authorities, due to his use of Xanax, he had no recollection of entering the home. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Davis faces second-degree burglar charges.
