Platte County Judge W. Ann Hansbrough honored with Judicial award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KQTV) — Platte County’s first woman appointed judge received the Missouri Bar’s 2026 Theodore M. McMillian Judicial Excellence Award.

The award recognizes judges in the state who have demonstrated traits like integrity, leadership and diligence in the administration of justice across their careers.

Judge W. Ann Hansbrough received the award at the Missouri Bar Annual Meeting and Judicial Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, on Sept. 23.

She took time to reflect on receiving this award.

“When I reflect on my career and what this award means to me, I find myself thinking less about the titles I have held and more about the doors I have had the privilege, and sometimes challenge, of opening,” Hansbrough said.

Judge Hansbrough’s leadership reaches beyond just the Platte County courthouse.

She has had leadership positions at Park University, the University of Missouri Alumni Association, the Platte County Bar Association and several community organizations across the Northland.

Hansbrough has served as Platte County Judge for over a decade and has supported several organizations and initiatives over her time in the county.

Including education, youth athletics, veterans, community development, higher education and access to justice.
