I-229 Double-Decker Bridge opens following maintenance, inspection

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) — The Double-Decker Bridge on Interstate 229, along the west side of St. Joseph, is now open after being closed for almost a week.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reopened the bridge and all ramps between U.S. Route 36 and Highland Avenue Wednesday afternoon. The bridge was closed for maintenance and a biannual inspection.

The bridge was reopened early due to the weather.

MoDOT said crews plan to return Oct. 12-16 to complete inspection of the on- and off-ramps. More information, including ramp closure timing, will be shared once it becomes available.
