Fatal shooting involving school bus: KCK police investigate, no suspect in custody

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KQTV) — The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department said it is investigating a deadly shooting involving a school bus Monday morning.

At approximately 6:39 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, officers were dispatched to N. 18th Street and Longwood Avenue in response to a reported shooting.

According to a news release, upon arrival, officers found a man with apparent gunshot wounds, who was pronounced dead on scene.

At the time of the shooting, a USD 500 school bus was traveling in the area and was stuck by gunfire.

No students on the bus were injured and no suspect is in custody at this time.

KCKPD said the incident is still under investigation, anyone with information on the case is urged to call the Crime Stoppers TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).

All tips will remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
