Where the Pony Express started

On April 3, 1860 a rider left the Pike’s Peak Stables in St. Joseph carrying mail toward California. The Pony Express lasted only about 18 months, but it fixed this city in American memory. The original stables now hold the Pony Express National Museum at 914 Penn Street.
