Patrol: Platte County prosecutor under criminal investigation when he died

PLATTE CITY, Mo. (KQTV) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed Friday that Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd was under investigation at the time of his death.

MSHP confirmed to KQ2 on Friday that a criminal investigation is being led by the department’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.

Zahnd was found dead inside the Platte County Courthouse on Thursday.

No criminal charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon.

Zahnd had served as the county’s prosecuting attorney since 2002.
