Founding of Blacksnake Hills

Joseph Robidoux established a trading post at Blacksnake Hills in 1826. The post sat on the Missouri River and became a gathering place for traders, travelers, and the people already living in this valley. The town that grew from that post took its name from Robidoux and from Saint Joseph.
