St. Joseph man, former teacher, charged with child enticement

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) — A St. Joseph man and former St. Joseph School District teacher is behind bars after he allegedly enticed an underage child into performing intimate acts.

According to a probable cause statement, 58-year-old Duane E. Parrott communicated online with a subject whom he believed was 16 years old.

The child told Parrott they were 16, and he continued to communicate sexually with them, asking questions about sexual acts, intimate parts and even asking them to perform sexual acts.

According to the statement, Parrott met the child at an agreed-upon location with the understanding that he would take the child back to his home to perform the sexual acts.

In an interview, Parrott admitted to “going down the wrong path again,” admitted to a similar incident happening several years ago, that he “should’ve easily picked up on it (knowing the child was underage” and admitted to the child being underage.

Parrott is currently booked in the Buchanan County Jail and has an initial court appearance scheduled for 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, with Honorable Judge Rebecca Spencer.
